Abbey College Cambridge is looking forward to another exceptional year of university progression success following its recent annual graduation ceremony, held in the magnificent Great Hall at Homerton College, University of Cambridge, followed by a celebratory reception.
The prestigious ceremony marked a significant milestone for the Class of 2026, recognising the culmination of years of academic dedication, ambition and perseverance. Surrounded by family, friends and staff, students gathered to celebrate their achievements and reflect on the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.
This year’s graduating cohort secured an impressive 496 university offers in total, with more than 70% of the offers received coming from prestigious Russell Group universities.
Among the highlights was an increase this year in both the number and success rate of offers from G5 universities, including 35 offers from University College London (UCL), alongside offers from the University of Cambridge, Imperial College London, and the London School of Economics and Political Science.
The success was further reflected in more than 400 offers from universities in the Times Top 20 UK rankings, and from UK universities placed in the QS World Top 100 rankings, reinforcing Abbey College Cambridge’s reputation for helping students access world-leading higher education opportunities.
One of the most notable achievements was the College’s 100% medicine offer success rate, with each medicine applicant receiving more than one offer on average – a remarkable accomplishment in one of the most competitive university admissions fields.
The graduation ceremony also recognised individual excellence, with this year’s Principal’s Award presented to Hannah and Seungbum, in recognition of their exceptional academic achievement and contribution to college life.
Abbey College Cambridge Principal Dr Elena Hesse added: “What can universities and employers expect from this cohort? A generation of highly ambitious young people who never lose sight of the importance of championing one another. Among them are quiet achievers and those whose energy and personalities light up every room – each respected equally, each contributing in their own way.
“Inclusivity sits at the heart of this class. They have consistently rejected division before it could take hold, fostering a culture defined by support, respect and belonging.
“They are self-starters with remarkable drive: students willing to dedicate extraordinary hours to their studies while still making time for sport, hobbies, friendships and the wider college community.
“As they leave us, they will encounter new challenges, new environments and new opportunities. Some will excite them; others will test them. We encourage our departing students to embrace them all with curiosity, courage and determination. Learn to find comfort in discomfort, for it is often there that the greatest growth occurs.
“To our Class of 2026, we have every confidence that you are ready – and we look forward to seeing the paths you will forge in the world beyond Abbey College Cambridge.”
