Record-Breaking Year for Abbey College Manchester with Surge in Top-Tier Uni Offers

Posted: 22nd May 2026

Abbey College Manchester is proud to announce a landmark year of academic success, with students securing more than 200 offers from the UK’s most prestigious universities. This year’s cohort has excelled in exceptionally competitive fields, including 21 offers for Medicine, Veterinary Science, and Dentistry, with further decisions still arriving daily.

Students have secured places at world-leading institutions, including the University of Oxford, Durham University, King’s College London, the University of Manchester, and the University of Bristol.

Among the high achievers is Year 13 student Hugo, who received a coveted offer to study Medicine at the University of Oxford. Reflecting on his success, Hugo shared: “Initially, I felt a great sense of relief knowing the hard work had paid off. That quickly turned into pride and excitement for the opportunities ahead at a world-renowned university. Abbey College Manchester provides such a diverse and supportive environment; mistakes are met with guidance rather than judgement, and new approaches are always welcomed. It is this inclusive community that I value most.”

The college recently celebrated these achievements at its annual graduation ceremony, with the awards presented by Tim Haynes, Chair of Governors. The event, which was defined by reflection and excellence, featured a moving solo performance of Joni Mitchell’s ‘Both Sides Now’ by Y13 student Emily, who herself holds four medical school offers.

Mark Cronin, Head of College at Abbey College Manchester, commented: “Our students have achieved encouraging outcomes in the face of intense national competition, particularly in high-demand fields like Medicine and long-established universities. This success is a testament to their dedication and the bespoke support provided by our staff. We are incredibly proud of this cohort’s hard-working spirit.”

Three Student of the Year Awards have been presented to Ali, Hugo, and International Foundation Programme student Niknaz.

Beyond academic results, the college also recognised at the graduation, outstanding contributions to the community and sport:

·         Footballer of the Year: Presented to Ivan for his exceptional leadership and performance on the pitch.

·         Community Award: Jointly bestowed upon Liam and Das for embodying the college’s spirit of inclusivity and community-mindedness.

As these students prepare for their final examinations, Abbey College Manchester continues to celebrate their journey from ambitious learners to the next generation of doctors, vets, and industry leaders.
