Felsted Schoolβs rugby programme is celebrating a remarkable run of success, with its U15 side securing three tournament victories in an exceptional season of 7s rugby.
The team began their winning streak at the Northampton Saints 7s, delivering a series of commanding performances, including an impressive 38β7 victory in the final. Their high-tempo attack and disciplined defence set the tone for what would become a dominant campaign.
Building on this momentum, Felsted travelled to Westcliff RFC for the Essex Schools 7s. Facing strong opposition, the boys showed resilience and tactical maturity, culminating in a superb 21β12 win over Campion in the final, with an outstanding individual performance seeing all three tries scored by Felsted player Tylan M, Year 10.
Just days later, the squad adapted brilliantly to the unique challenge of floodlit rugby at the Perse 7s, once again demonstrating their depth and consistency. Unbeaten across the tournament, they secured overall victory with a series of composed and clinical performances.
Further success came from the 1st VII, who claimed victory at the Framlingham College 7s. With a reshuffled squad, the team displayed cohesion and intensity throughout, finishing with a dominant 47β17 win in the final. The 1st team also concluded their season strongly, reaching the Bowl Final at the Sedbergh National 10s, finishing 30β03 in a competitive showcase of the game.
Across all competitions, Felstedβs players have demonstrated skill, teamwork and resilience, marking this as a truly outstanding season for the Schoolβs rugby programme.
βThis has been an exceptional season, defined not just by results but by the playersβ commitment to one another, their willingness to learn and their ability to perform under pressure,β commented Andrew Le Chevalier, Felsted’s Director of Rugby. βTheir consistency across multiple tournaments reflects the strength of the programme and the character of the group.β
Felsted has a long tradition of rugby excellence and all pupils at the school begin to
learn the basics in the Prep School, with the school fielding teams of all abilities in regular competitive fixtures. This strength was underlined by Felsted being crowned National Vase Winners at the 2024 Continental Tyres National Schools Rugby tournament. Felsted has produced many professional players over the years through its elite player pathways and partnership with Saracens Rugby Club – alongside Englandβs Max Malins and Scotlandβs Rory Hutchinson, Alex Wardell, Craig Wright, Ollie Stonham, Obinna Nkwocha and Ehren Painter have also all represented England at age-group level in recent years.
