Two students from Taunton School have signed professional contracts with Bristol Bears.
Caspar and Monty, both in Year 13, have been part of Bristol Bears Academy for a number of years and will now progress to the Senior Academy.
These signings come off the back of Caspar and Monty’s exceptional league win with Bristol Bears Academy in February.
Ben Thomas, Director of Rugby at Taunton School, said: “This is a fantastic achievement and we are all hugely proud of them. Both players have demonstrated outstanding dedication, resilience, and professionalism throughout their time at Taunton School, and they fully deserve this opportunity. We look forward to following their journeys and watching their continued development in the professional game.”
Caspar has played rugby since he was six and joined Taunton School in Year 12. He became part of the Bristol Bears Academy Pathway at age 14 and was named U18 Bear of the Season 25/26.
On top of this, Caspar recently represented England U18s in the Six Nations, gaining invaluable experience competing at an elite international level. He made a significant impact throughout the tournament, finishing as England’s top try scorer and demonstrating both his attacking instincts and consistency against high-quality opposition.
Monty began playing rugby when he was six and joined Taunton School in Year 6. He became part of the Academy Pathway at 13 and captained the team in the Bristol Bears Academy league final earlier this year. Monty has also captained the 1st XV at School due to his leadership qualities and consistency on the pitch and has been involved in England camps, highlighting his recognition at a national level and continued development within the elite pathway.
Taunton School’s rugby provision is a cornerstone of the School’s sporting provision, combining high-quality coaching and facilities with a strong culture of teamwork, enthusiasm and ambition and a close partnership with Bristol Bears. Players benefit from a structured programme that supports performance and long‑term development, whether competing at an elite level or enjoying the game recreationally.
