Bede’s School are celebrating success after winning big at the Tennis Sussex LTA Awards, held on Saturday 7 February at the Amex Stadium. In a ceremony celebrating the very best of Sussex tennis, Bede’s secured the coveted ‘School of the Year’ award.

The evening saw 12 LTA Awards and 22 Tennis Sussex Awards presented to the region’s top athletes, coaches and institutions. Bede’s was recognised for its commitment to tennis in the county. From hosting all tournaments for the Sussex Schools Championships to sponsoring the County Championships, Bede’s has continuously demonstrated its dedication to nurturing tennis talent at both local and regional levels.

The ‘School of the Year’ accolade follows a landmark year for the Bede’s Tennis Academy. Most notably, Bede’s was one of only four schools in the entire country to successfully qualify both its Boys’ and Girls’ teams for the National Finals. This rare achievement underscores the incredible depth of talent at the school and its ability to compete at the highest possible level across the board.

Upper Sixth pupil Jack Ford won the Brian Edwards Award for the second consecutive year, a testament to his consistent dedication and rising profile in the sport. Bede’s alumnus and Wimbledon Men’s Doubles Champion 2025, Julian Cash, was named Player of the Year following an extraordinary season.

Bede’s provides a comprehensive, year-round tennis programme designed to cater to players of all skill levels. With state-of-the-art facilities and a professional coaching team, Bede’s ensures every pupil has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Francesca Byrne, Head of Tennis at Bede’s, comments, “We are thrilled to receive the School of the Year award. This recognition reflects the hard work of our players, the expertise of our coaching staff and the support from the Bede’s community. Our mission has always been to nurture talent at every level, and these awards validate that vision. We hope to keep working closely with Tennis Sussex to continue to promote the growth of tennis within the county.”
