Abbey College Manchester, a leading independent college in the heart of the city, is celebrating the continued success of its careers and higher education support provision following a highly successful University Fair and in anticipation of its Young Medics Event on 9 December.
The college recently welcomed representatives from ten partner universities to its annual University Fair, offering an invaluable platform for Year 12 and 13 students to explore a diverse range of higher education pathways. Throughout the afternoon, students engaged directly with university recruitment teams, seeking guidance on course options, entry requirements and student life.
Many leading universities were in attendance, including University of Leeds, University of York, Manchester Metropolitan University, University of the West of England, Liverpool John Moores University, Lancaster University, and the University of Lancashire, among others. University representatives praised Abbey College Manchester students for the quality of their questions, strong preparation and their genuine curiosity about higher education opportunities.
Building on the success of the University Fair, for all aspiring medics in Years 10 and 11 seeking a sixth form that will prepare them for their medicine application, the college will host a Young Medic Event on 9 December, showcasing its unique academic pathway to medicine programme. Attendees will have the invaluable opportunity to hear expert insights from Science Department Staff and the Medical Application Support Team, and discover more about the personalised UCAS medicine support.
Chris Randell, Principal, Abbey College Manchester, commented: “At Abbey College Manchester, we are exceptionally proud of our strong track record in successfully supporting students to progress to a wide range of competitive programmes at leading universities.
“The University Fair is a key part of our university preparation programme, designed to ensure that every student is well informed and supported in making the best choices for their future. Events like this reflect our ongoing commitment to helping students achieve their best possible outcomes beyond college.
“Our Medical Preparation Programme offers comprehensive support throughout the entire application journey – from selecting the right university to accepting an offer. Students gain a clear understanding of careers in medicine and dentistry, explore medical ethics and current issues, and receive expert guidance on crafting impactful personal statements. The programme includes tailored interview preparation for both traditional and Multi Mini Interviews, UCAT preparation, and advice on alternative medical pathways and how to make the most of the fifth UCAS choice.”
