Taunton Prep School has this week unveiled its newly renovated Centenary Hall.
The Hall has undergone a substantial refurbishment, including installing:
- New insulated roof and acoustic ceiling
- New raised stage and drapery
- Upgraded electrics, ambient lighting, rigging and stage lighting
- New floor finish
- New black-out blinds
- Modern AV facilities including projector and live streaming equipment
Centenary Hall has long stood as the main ‘hub’ for the Prep School, hosting dance, drama, and music performances, exams, class activities and more.
Julia Humphries, Director of Estates at Taunton School, said: “We are delighted that the re-roofing and refurbishment of the Centenary Hall is complete. The upgraded space is a fantastic addition to our campus, providing a versatile venue and marking an exciting step forward in improving our facilities and creating spaces that support excellence, creativity, and community engagement.”
The Centenary Hall sits off the School’s ‘Green Heart’, a pedestrianised area in the middle of the campus which links Taunton Prep School with the Senior School. Pupils benefit from sharing a campus with the Senior School by utilising many of the same high-quality facilities – something that was all the more appreciated while the Centenary Hall was unavailable.
Chris Coleman, Senior Deputy Head at Taunton Prep School, said: “It has been wonderful to have the Centenary Hall back in use again. I am so grateful for the support from across the School which has allowed our busy Performing Arts department to continue as normal during the refurbishment. Although we’ve missed having the Hall, the experience has inspired some truly creative ways of making things happen.
“We are now very excited to welcome parents and guests to future events in the Centenary Hall. A huge thank you to our Site Services and Estates teams for their care, time, and attention to detail in restoring the Hall and making it such a special place for the children to enjoy.”
The Centenary Hall is available to hire through the School’s commercial arm, Taunton School Enterprises. The Hall can seat 130 guests and is suitable for business and community events, including galas, exhibitions, performances, and more.
