Royal Hospital School Celebrates National Success at the ISA Art Awards 2025

Posted: 24th November 2025

The Royal Hospital School (RHS), in Holbrook, Suffolk, is delighted to announce the outstanding national achievements of three former Year 11 pupils in the prestigious Independent Schools Association (ISA) Art Awards 2025.

Competing against 260 entries from schools across the country, all three RHS finalists were recognised at national level, an exceptional accomplishment for the School’s Art Department.

After being selected from the ISA Eastern Region exhibition at Gosfield School in October, the pupils’ work progressed to the national finals held in Kenilworth, Warwickshire on 11-12th November. RHS had five pieces chosen for the regional round, with Lucy Gower, Grace Poon and Michele Raji named as category winners for the Eastern Area, earning their place in the national exhibition.

At the national finals, RHS achieved the following results:

  • Michele Raji – First Place (KS4 Fashion)
    Stunning organic gown design
  • Lucy Gower – Second Place (KS4 Drawing)
    “Twisted Rope”
  • Grace Poon – Second Place (KS4 Textiles)
    “Bitterns”

These exceptional outcomes highlight the talent, creativity, and dedication of the pupils and the strength of the RHS Art Department.

Harriet Barber (Head of Art), at RHS commented on the achievements, saying: “We are incredibly proud of all five pupils who represented the school at the regional exhibition, and to come away with three national awards is a remarkable achievement. The standard across the competition was extremely high, so for all three of our finalists to receive national recognition is something very special.”

RHS is also pleased to share that both Grace Poon and Michele Raji have their work on display at the Anna Airy Prize Exhibition at the University of Suffolk’s Waterfront Building, Ipswich. Their pieces can be viewed from Saturday 22nd November until Monday 1st December 2025.
