Taunton School is celebrating its senior students achieving national and international recognition for their sporting talents.
Year 11 Finley has been selected to join the South West U18โs England Regional Golf team, following his recent representation of the Somerset Menโs 1st team and his SWIFT Order of Merit Strokeplay win which gave him a World Amateur Ranking. He has been working closely with Taunton Schoolโs Golf Coach, Lee Corfield.
Sisters Laura and Zoe are enjoying success in tetrathlon, recently competing at the Pony Club National Championship Tetrathlon where Laura finished 2nd and Zoe finished 7th, whilst Zoe represented England at Senior Regional Tetrathlon in Scotland and finished 3rd individually. The duo is also training for Tetrathlon Team GB qualifiers in the spring.
Year 11 Lucie won silver and bronze medals at the Karate European Championships in Denmark as part of her team and individually respectively. Lucie has been training in karate since the age of 7 and is currently preparing for theย National Championships later this month. She has been part of the England squad for four years and was one of only 13 people to be selected for last yearโs World Championship squad.
Dan Pettifer, Director of Sport at Taunton School, said: โTaunton School sport is going from strength to strength at present, with a multitude of sports being played in School as well as outside the curriculum.
โWe work collaboratively with parents, coaches and students to ensure they can follow their passions whilst also keeping on top of their studies. I am extremely proud of all the exceptional achievements made by our students.”
Other successes across the Senior School include four girls (Bella, Rebecca, Olivia, and Eloise) qualifying for the English Schools Swimming Relay Finals in Birmingham on 15th November, student Theo joining the DiSE programme with England Hockey, Year 11 Zornitsa making it to the final of the National Kayaking Championships in Bulgaria, and Year 12 Isobel being selected to represent Team GB in Pentathlon.
Taunton School is proud to offer an extensive sports provision with more than 120 teams across 20 sports. The School recently received the Inspiring Sporting Activities award from Talk Education and earlier in the year was named as the 14th best school in the UK for sport.
