Posted: 10th October 2025

Abbey College Manchester, a leading independent college in the heart of the city, has bolstered its enrichment programme to include a host of new career-focused activities.

Designed to broaden students’ horizons beyond the classroom, the college’s newly extended enrichment programme introduces nationally recognised opportunities that combine practical skill development with career awareness. Among the new highlights is The Bank of England Project, which immerses students into the workings of the UK’s central bank and offers hands-on experience in financial analysis, economic research, and policy-making.

Another key addition, the British Sign Language (BSL) Course equips students with valuable communication skills, promotes inclusivity, and offers a recognised qualification that enhances future employability.

The new Partner University Talks series connects students with representatives from leading institutions in the college’s network of university partners. The sessions provide first-hand insights into degree options and admissions processes.

The new opportunities complement Abbey College Manchester’s existing, diverse enrichment programme. Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports activities, including football, basketball, volleyball and badminton, as well as having access to exercise and fitness facilities. A wide range of creative and academic clubs are also available, including Β Art & Photography, Debating club, Knitting, Mathematics Challenge, Wellbeing club, Science club, Year 13 medical club, Engineering Club, Astronomy club, and Dungeons and Dragons.

Chris Randell, Principal, Abbey College Manchester, commented:Β β€œSuccess in life comes from more than just exams, so all students are encouraged to expand their horizons beyond the classroom to develop new skills and broaden their outlook on life. Our diverse Enrichment Programme supports our academic curriculum and forms an integral part of the wider education and college experience offered to our students.
