Festival fun farewell, Years 6 pupils from Barnard Castle Preparatory School enjoy GlastonBarney

Posted: 13th August 2025

The curtain fell on children’s primary education with a farewell festival to remember.

Year 6 children from Barnard Castle Preparatory School attended their very own GlastonBarney, a festival of fun, food, games and sounds.

Bouncy assault courses, knockout spinners and bungee tug of war trials were among a variety of games set up as their Prep School days came to an end.

A host of tasty treats were consumed on the school fields as staff performed live music to create a festival feel and the children enjoyed what has become a Barney Prep rite of passage before starting at Senior School in September.

Headmistress Laura Turner said: β€œFor the Year 6 pupils it marks the end of their primary education and they look forward to GlastonBarney all year.

β€œLooking back, it is amazing how much they have grown and developed as young people and they are now very much looking forward to moving seamlessly into Year 7 at Barnard Castle School and the next stage of their learning.”
