Bromsgrove School enjoyed notable success at the 113th Midlands Girlsβ Schools Championships β a distinguished and historic event which continues to be a cornerstone of the Schoolβs tennis calendar.
In a tournament featuring a particularly strong field, Bromsgroveβs girls approached the day with admirable preparation, professionalism and quiet determination. The format of the competition demanded considerable resilience, with teams required to contest seven matches simply to reach the final.
The Schoolβs pairing of Gina Obrey and Grace Hadley performed superbly throughout the group stages, securing six wins from seven matches to earn their place in the final. Composed and courageous, they navigated high-level opposition and the unpredictable nature of a fast-paced scoring format with real maturity.
In the final, the Bromsgrove pair made an impressive start, executing their game plan with precision to establish an early 5β1 lead. Their opponents from Kingβs High levelled the match at 5β5 after saving three match points.
In the decisive moments, Gina and Grace quickly took control to lead 6β2. This time, there was no letting go β they saw out the match with conviction to secure the title and bring the championship trophy back to Bromsgrove.
