The BSA fully supports the Schools Allergy Code – a framework of best practice for allergy management in schools on which The Allergy Team partnered with ISBA and Benedict Blythe Foundation to create and has been subsequently sent out by the Department for Education to all schools. The Code and accompanying checklist is free to download.
The BSA recommends that all its member schools adopt the Code and consider joining the Schools Allergy Register. Schools who join the Register will receive a suite of support to adhere to the Schools Allergy Code including online training, templates, policy reviews and more. Schools that have been assessed as adhering to the Code will receive a Trust Mark, providing reassurance to pupils with allergies and their families who currently have very little to go on when choosing a school they hope will keep their child safe. Schools will also appear on a list of schools that parents of children with allergies will be able to search to find out which schools are on it.
Schools around the country, from village primaries and prep schools to large independents such a Rugby and Oundle, have been signing up to join the Schools Allergy Register – find out why you should join them in a FREE Q&A that The Allergy Team is hosting on Monday 17th June at 11.30.
