Brentwood School has been named one of the top twenty schools nationally by this month’s School Sports Magazine, placing an incredible 17th in the 2022 list.
This position is a significant rise from previous years, showing the huge appetite for competitive sport from Brentwood School students. The list includes both state and independent schools, and according to the School Sports Magazine, reaching the top 30 puts you in the top 1% of sporting schools in the country.
The ranking list is created by performances across sixteen different sports, highlighting Brentwood’s successes in a range of activities. 2022 was an incredibly successful year for the school, with highlights including a 2nd place in the national athletics final, alongside other national finals in netball, squash and swimming. The school also had teams who performed well nationally in their respective cricket, football, hockey and rugby competitions, all of which contributed to Brentwood’s final placing.
Neil Gamester, Director of Sport (3-18), said: ‘A huge congratulations to all the students and staff on this outstanding achievement. This ranking is testament to the commitment that both students and staff show towards the sports programme. Whilst our primary focus will always be on maximum participation, it is pleasing to see that we have so many students and teams who are excelling on the national stage. This cannot be achieved without hard work and dedication from all involved and I would like to thank everyone for their efforts and endeavour’.
