Felsted School Colour Run raises over £10,000 for local charity partners and children’s charities in Africa and India

Running through clouds of powder paint and confetti enabled 600 pupils, staff and members from the Felsted School Community to raise more than £10,000 for good causes, near and far.

The whole of Felsted Senior School took part in Felsted’s traditional biannual Colour Run on 19 September, donning white t-shirts and sunglasses and running laps of a 3km course around the north Essex campus of the independent boarding and day school while being pelted with colours, in an event its organisers described as ‘one of the most exciting and anticipated of the year’.

“The Colour Run is always brilliant because everyone gets involved, from Year 9 right up to Sixth Form,” said participants Ben L and Mercedes RPL who are members of the school’s student-run Charity Team. “It’s a chance to do something fun as a school, while also raising money for causes that make a real difference.”

Having completed the run, students enjoyed a ‘paint party’ on the school field and then formed themselves into a star shape to replicate the branding of the Sparkle Foundation and mark the tenth anniversary of the charity, which was founded by a former Felsted pupil to support children in Malawi, one of the world’s poorest countries.

Representatives of charity partners, including Sparkle Malawi and Magic Bus which benefited from donations as a result of Felsted’s Colour Run 2025 were there to cheer the students on.

The £10,000 raised through sponsorship of the event will be used to provide more than a hundred meals for people in night shelters run by local charities Farleigh and CHESS, and by Felsted Mission in East London. It will also buy much-needed medical equipment for Essex Air Ambulance and support Young Minds’ 24-Hour Mental Health Hotline.

Felsted will also be able to make a donation to sponsor the education of seven children in Uganda through Teach Uganda and help children in Dharavi, India through the charity Magic Bus.

“‘Making a difference’ is a key element of life at Felsted and pupils aged four to 18 are continually involved in charity fundraising, while many also give up their time to volunteer for organisations benefiting people locally and around the world,” said Revd. Nigel Little, Felsted’s Head of Charities. “The school raises funds for our charity partners throughout the year and also engages with an outreach programme which involves sharing facilities and expertise with the community.”
