BSA Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Mortimer who will become Director, Defence and Military Services from November.
Mark spent eight years as an infantry officer in the British Army, was briefly a management consultant, and then spent 25 years working in boarding schools; he was the Head of three BSA and HMC schools in both England and Scotland and was also the HMC Representative to the CCF Association and to the Armed Forces. He spent ten years on the HMC Professional Development Committee, was an ISI inspector, and a board member of the Scottish Council for Independent Schools (SCIS). He has twice rowed across the Atlantic, completed the Marathon des Sables and cycled through the Arctic Circle.
Mark said: “I am delighted to be joining the BSA Group at an exciting and dynamic time for our schools. Having led BSA member schools for more than a decade, I am well aware of the excellent work done by the Group. However, as a former army officer as well as a head, I am particularly excited to be taking on this brand-new and important role and look forward to acting as a bridge between the two sectors, both of which are very important to me.”
Mark brings with him a wealth of knowledge in both military and educational fields and will lead on projects including BOBOR (The Boarding School Book of Remembrance), the Service Parents’ Guide to Boarding as well as some exciting new events and initiatives for service personnel.
