The Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA) is delighted to introduce BSA Bear, who is off on a nationwide adventure to celebrate BSA’s 60th anniversary, shining a spotlight on creativity and community in boarding schools.
Launched at today’s Prep Boarding Conference at Millfield Prep School, Bear will spend a week at different BSA member schools between October 2025 and May 2026. Follow his journey as he joins lessons, heads out on trips, and takes part in pupils’ favourite boarding activities.
David Walker, Director, BSA said: “BSA Bear is here to make new friends and learn what boarding life is all about. We can’t wait to see where Bear goes and what memories are made along the way.”
Schools had the chance to sign up to host Bear at the Prep Boarding Conference. We also held a naming ceremony on LinkedIn, giving everyone the chance to vote for their favourite name. Once a name has been chosen, Bear will officially start his journey with Millfield Prep, his first host school.
Each host school will receive Bear in the post with a special welcome pack and, after a fun-filled week of boarding adventures documented across social media, Bear will travel to his next school.

Schools can follow Bear’s adventure, making new memories and friendships traveling school to school, by searching #BSABear.
Bear is a brilliant way for children to reflect on their boarding experience, celebrate friendship, and get creative. Also, a chance for schools to promote their boarding provision and facilities.
BSA supports excellence in boarding through training, guidance and advocacy for member schools. In 2025–26, BSA is celebrating 60 years with special events, campaigns and stories highlighting the joy of boarding.
