Having secured a Silver Medal at the British Indoor Rowing Championships last December, Lower Sixth student, Fergus P’s rowing is going from strength to strength following his second successful weekend in Nottingham attending the GB Rowing Development Programme. The Olympic Pathways Programme looks to spot and develop young, talented athletes towards achieving sporting success at the highest levels.
During this latest weekend of training Fergus passed various technical tests in a single scull and on an ergo to see him moved up a class from ‘E’ to ‘D’. Fergus was also tried out in a ‘double scull’ (-2x) ‘quad-scull’ (-4x). The quad is one of the fastest crew boats, with a corresponding need for high technical precision, with higher rating and drive-speed to match the oar speed in the water.
Under the guidance of Mr Davies – himself an international oarsman – and the dedicated members of our Sports Department, the Fettes indoor rowing facilities will provide Fergus with excellent training opportunities to support his involvement and to continue to develop his potential.
