Millfield appoints David Brooke as Deputy Head (Academic)

Millfield is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr David Brooke as Deputy Head (Academic), commencing in January 2024.

David takes over from Alexandra Haydon and will lead on all academic matters ensuring that Millfield immerses students and staff in limitless academic opportunities.

He is currently Executive Head of School at St John’s International School in Belguim, with overall responsibility for all aspects of the school including a recent review of the school’s vision, mission and values. He has successfully introduced AI web-based technology to support student learning in core subjects and is in the process of introducing metaverse technology to allow classes to be taught in a virtual space so that students can safely experiment with virtual radioactive materials, visit planets or dissect human anatomy.

David was previously Head of Senior School and Head of Mathematics at St George’s International School, Switzerland, where he delivered significant improvement in academic outcomes in the IB (international baccaleareate) and has worked as a maths teacher and senior houseparent at Collège Alpin Beau Soleil, Switzerland.

Educated in Cheshire, he studied at Oxford, Cambridge and Toronto Universities, gaining a Master of Mathematics, Ph.D. in Pure Mathematics and a PGCE. He also has an MBA in Educational Leadership (International) from UCL.

He has been awarded numerous scholarships during his mathematical studies, most significantly receiving the Canadian Rhodes Scholars Foundation Scholarship in 2003.

David is a keen runner, skier and mountain biker.
