A rising star from Auchterarder has been selected for the Scottish Alpine Ski Team for the second time.

Moving up to the adult ranks of ski racing, Strathallan’s ski captain Alasdair MacDonald has had the opportunity to race against World Cup winning athletes and said he is honoured to be selected for the U18 Men’s Ski team.

“It has been a difficult year, moving up to the adult ranks and competing with some of the world’s top skiers but I’ve had a great season on the slopes,” he remarked. “I am beyond delighted to ski for Scotland again.”

Alasdair, who took up skiing at the age of 18 months old, said he was confident about the year ahead.

“To be successful this year, I need to keep balancing my skiing and studying. Fortunately, I get all the support I need to complete my school work from the staff at Strathallan.”

In the off-season, Alasdair said he will continue to dedicate his time in the gym to becoming stronger and faster.

Strathallan’s Director of Sport, Jim Thompson, proudly commented, “We are delighted to see Alasdair be called up to the Scottish Alpine Ski Team again. He has put in so much effort this year and continues to push himself forward.”

Alasdair’s national call up places him alongside the distinguished Charlie Guest, an Olympic and World Cup alpine skier who also progressed from being a Strathallan student to an established professional athlete.
