We are delighted to announce that Woodbridge School, including our Pre-Prep, Prep, Senior School, Boarding and Sixth Form, has achieved βDouble Excellentβ in our Independent Schoolsβ Inspection Report.Β Rating the School excellent in all areas, and achieving full compliance, the inspectors spent three days in School during March 2023 as part of the ongoing cycle of inspection.
Having observed all aspects of life at School and interviewed a significant number of students and staff, the report highlighted not only that βthe School is an environment of academic endeavour and curiosityβ, but that βthe children had self-confidence notable without any hint of arroganceβ.
The report went on to confirm that βthe quality of the studentsβ academic and other achievements is excellentβ, that βstudents are highly successful at collaborating both inside and outside the classroom,β and βstudents embrace the many opportunities to improve the lives of others and make an excellent contribution to the community within and beyond schoolβ.
Confirming βeffective promotion by leadership and governance of an environment of academic endeavour and curiosityβ the report also noted that students βhave an excellent understanding of staying safe, both in terms of their digital lives and with regards to their physical and mental health. They are extremely good at balancing a wide range of activities with academic work.β
Shona Norman, Head of School, confirmed her pride at the confirmation of the Schoolβs inspection status. βOf course we are delighted with the outcome of our recent inspection. It provides real evidence of the standard of education, support and guidance our students receive, but it also goes further and evidences our values.Β From a teaching, academic, pastoral and spiritual point of view, the report demonstrates not only the incredibly high standards achieved, but the positive impact upon our students, staff, and in fact our whole community, in School and beyond.β
She continued, βFurthermore the report indicates what we have always encouraged, strived to achieve and known about our School and our students: that there is an βoutstanding sense of community and support, friendship and kindnessβ; and that our βstudents have a kind and respectful approach to one anotherβ.Β The double excellent rating reflects our achievements and standards not only in our academic approach and results, but in the way we care for and support our students β both are vital and in our minds one cannot and must not exist without the other.β
