Taunton School and Taunton School International have been selected out of thousands of the
best Secondary Schools in Europe in the 2023 StudyTravel Secondary School Awards for the
second year in a row.
The notable awards recognise excellence in service by educators in the burgeoning high school
study abroad sector.
Taunton School is only one of two UK schools to reach the finals of the European category, with
the other finalists from France, Austria and Switzerland.
Taunton School is one of the South West’s leading co-educational independent schools and is
home to students from more than 50 different countries – a result of the school’s all-inclusive
ethos. Taunton was the first school in the UK to open an international school on site back in
1996, but its tradition of welcoming students from abroad dates back more than 100 years.
Taunton has been an IB World School since 2007 and is one of the only schools in the country to
offer four alternative Sixth Form pathways to higher education: the IB Diploma, A-levels, Level 3
BTEC Diplomas in Business and in Sport and Exercise as well as bespoke Pre-Foundation and
Foundation courses in Business specifically designed for international students.
The winners will be announced at a gala dinner on April 21st 2023 in London.

Congratulations to Portia Putatunda, founder of the Planet Spiti Boarding School in a remote part of the Himalayas, who is our first winner of BSA’s wonderful new Emma Pattison Award for Compassionate Leadership. BSA was delighted to present Planet Spiti Boarding School with an Honorary Membership this year.

The Emma Pattison Award for Compassionate Leadership has been introduced for 2024 in memory of former Epsom College Head, Emma Pattison, recognises an individual who consistently embodies compassion and kindness within their leadership role. The award exemplifies a person who fosters trust, contributes to team morale and makes a meaningful and positive impact on those around them.
