Taunton School Netball Teams celebrate a season of success

Posted: 27th March 2023

The senior netball teams at Taunton School are celebrating one of their most successful seasons
to date. Across all age ranges, the Spring term has been jam-packed with matches, and some
brilliant wins.
Taunton’s under-19, under-16 and under-14 teams all qualified for the South West Regional
Finals in Bournemouth last month – one of only two schools to have representatives in every
age group of the competition.
The under-14 team was crowned South West Netball Champions, with the under-16s and under19s narrowly missing out on a place in the semi-finals. The under-14s subsequently went on to
finish in the top 10 at the National Schools Netball Finals in Peterborough.
β€œTo have three teams representing Taunton School at the regional championships was
amazing,” said Head of Netball, Lisa Manley. β€œIt’s brilliant to see the girls playing so well. They all
excelled on the day and I am very proud of them.”
This season the under-16s were captained by Zoe who was also selected to represent Northern
Ireland at the European Championships in February.
β€œWhat a season!” said Miss Manley. β€œAll the teams are a real credit to the school. To also have
one of our girls selected to play for a national team is just brilliant – and inspirational for all our
other students who love the sport.”
