Pupils from Gresham’s School are raising money with new charity singles

Posted: 12th December 2022

Pupils from Gresham’s, in Holt North Norfolk, have recorded two new singles to raise money for the school’s charity of the year, Holt Youth Project. The two groups, Gresham’s Girls and Gresham’s Guys, are going head-to-head to see who can produce the best charity single. The first Gresham’s Girls single was released in 2016, and the Gresham’s Guys joined in the fun with their own single in 2020. The annual tradition has continued for both groups due to its success.

Gresham’s Guys have produced their own funky version of Britney Spears ‘Baby One More Time’. The original video was produced by Old Greshamian Nigel Dick, award-winning film and video director, who also directed and produced the Band Aid single, ‘Do They Know it’s Christmas’.

The Gresham’s Girls have gone with a melodic, dreamy arrangement of The Beatles ‘Across the Universe’. Voices float over a melancholy piano accompaniment, whilst their video is shot on a very atmospheric Cley beach, in Norfolk.

The two new videos, produced especially to accompany the singles, have both been directed by a Gresham’s pupil. The Gresham’s Guys video can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjTQBk0epuM and the Gresham’s Girls video can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jalVkqxjnuQ

They can also be downloaded on all major music streaming platforms.

It is hoped that both singles will collectively raise a good sum for Holt Youth Project, to aid with the work they do within the local community. Any donations received for the singles are greatly appreciated, and can be made by clicking this link: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/Greshams-Guys-and-Girls-Singles-2022
