“I did it for my friends” said Year 11 Melissa Jane after adding another gold medal to her tally representing The High School, Truro, in the Girls Junior Sabre category of the Public Schools Fencing Championship in London last week.
Up against many of the best young fencers from across the UK, Melissa was on top form beating Truro School’s Lexie in the Semi-Final and Shrewsbury’s Eleanor in the Final to take the gold medal.
Melissa recently took part in the European Championships and will next month fence for Team GB at the World Fencing Championships in Dubai – all this whilst studying for her GCSEs which start in two months’ time.
