International Boarders Enjoy a Fun-filled Activity Programme

Leweston’s boarders on site have enjoyed a varied evening and weekend activity programme.

In common with many other boarding schools in the UK, Leweston has a small number of international boarders still on the school campus.

Despite less pupils on site than usual, staff have ensured that life at Leweston continues to be engaging and fun for those in boarding, continuing to instil the sense of community at school.

Alongside the students’ full teaching timetable, boarding staff have organised various activities for evenings and weekends. Clubs on offer include:

  • Craft Club
  • Lingo Lounge
  • Badminton
  • Sports Hall Games
  • Table Tennis
  • Knitting Club
  • Yoga
  • Gym Sessions
  • Body Combat
  • Board Games/Card Games

Boarders have already enjoyed badminton and yoga sessions during the evenings and some students were brave enough to take on Mr Cannon at a game of cards.

During the first two weekends of the Spring Term weekend activities have included; film nights, appreciating their beautiful Dorset surrounding on country walks, a Murder Mystery Evening (where pupils got to dress up and take part in a ‘Who done it’ scenario), Sports Hall games, card and board games and Craft and Cookery Clubs.

GAP Assistant, Miss Sing, also hosts Cookery Club every Sunday with a different theme from around the world each week. Chosen themes so far this term have been Asian cuisine with pupils cooking Sushi, Teriyaki Chicken and Japanese cheesecake and South American cuisine cooking (and eating!) Aji de Gallina (Peruvian chicken stew), alfajores (a traditional confection found in Andorra, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, the Philippines, and Southern Brazil), and empanadas (a type of baked or fried turnover consisting of pastry and filling).
