Denstone College Announces New Head

After a rigorous selection process, the Chairman and governors of Denstone College are pleased to announce the appointment of Miss Lotte Tulloch to be Head with effect from September 2021. Lotte will succeed Mr Miles Norris, who has led the College with distinction since 2018. Miles is leaving us as he and his family move to Switzerland, where his wife is taking up a new and exciting role which presents an exciting future for all of the family.

Currently Lotte is the Deputy Head of Sedbergh School in Cumbria and is also a member of the Senior Leadership Team of Casterton, Sedbergh Preparatory School. Lotte is well placed and experienced to build on the current successes of Denstone College and to deliver our vision for development and continued excellence, seeking also to prepare our pupils for the next stages in their lives.

Lotte was educated at Loretto School, Edinburgh and was awarded a Morehead-Cain Scholarship to the University of North Carolina where she graduated with a BA with Distinction in English Literature. Lotte gained her PGCE in secondary education from Buckingham University and studied for her Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA Education) at Keele University.

Lotte has significant international experience and is passionate about British schools as pedagogical centres of excellence around the world. A champion of diversity and accessibility in independent education, Lotte will bring a dynamism to the leadership of the wider Denstone community. Outside of academia, Lotte is an accomplished musician and a passionate fell runner having completed the Marathon des Sables in 2018.

Chairman Professor Nigel Ratcliffe said, “We are delighted to announce this appointment and Lotte brings to Denstone all the experience and vision, both national and international, that we need to be ahead of the game as we take Denstone, its pupils and staff forward into a rapidly changing, very exciting world arena. Denstone is focused on excellence and strives to inspire.”

Lotte Tulloch said, “I am genuinely thrilled to become the next Head of Denstone College, to help shape and deliver the school’s strategic vision for continued academic and pastoral excellence. The opportunities and timeless values so alive at Denstone College, aligned with my core educational beliefs, mean that this will be a thoroughly exciting time for the whole Denstone community. As the next steward of this extraordinary establishment, I very much look forward to meeting as many of you as possible before I take up the role in September.”
