BSA Certified Agent Samuel Chan has been recognised by Forbes, the leading global business journal, for the positive impact that he has made on the international education industry.

Chan is the founder and director of Britannia StudyLink, a UK education agency based in Hong Kong. He has been named one of Forbes’ Elite in recognition of what he and his company have achieved in recent years, changing the way that UK schools and families communicate, both in Hong Kong and across Asia.

Starting life as a one-man-band, Britannia StudyLink has grown into a household brand in Asia in a little over a decade. Initially a consultancy offering guidance to Asian families trying to choose schools for their children in the UK, the company now provides everything from comprehensive tutoring to ground-breaking school exhibitions and high-tech marketing services.

Chan attributes his drive and confidence to his UK education. He said: “I am delighted! And I feel that I owe everything to UK boarding schools. My teachers in Hong Kong had pretty much written me off and told me I wouldn’t amount to anything. Then I started at Gresham’s as a boarder and my life was turned around. Slowly but surely I gained confidence and unlocked my potential.”

He added: “Gresham’s did what UK boarding schools always do so brilliantly, providing that all-round education of sport, music, art and extra-curricular activities – not just focussing on the academic side of things. Everything I learnt at boarding school has helped me in my life and in building Britannia StudyLink. I never forget what an amazing opportunity it was for me to come to the UK as a boarder, and it is this that drives me on to help reach more students and families across Asia, putting across that UK schools are about more than just academic results and school league tables. The fact that the agency has grown so quickly is proof that this is the right way to do it – families here are finally starting to get it!”

Chan plans to continue to develop Britannia StudyLink, helping UK boarding schools to reach students in Asia in more innovative and personal ways than ever before.
