BSA Group achieves Living Wage Employer accreditation

Posted: 27th June 2022

BSA Group has successfully achieved accredited Living Wage Employer status. This means that every member of staff working for the Group, including all third-party contracted staff, will earn a real Living Wage.

The accreditation covers each of the businesses which make up the BSA Group: the Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA), the British Association of Independent Schools with International Students (BAISIS), the Safeguarding and Child Protection Association (SACPA), the Health in Education Association (HIEDA), and The Institute of Boarding (TIOB), the latter of which formally launches this autumn.

The real Living Wage is higher than the government’s minimum, or National Living Wage, and is an independently calculated hourly rate of pay that is based on the actual cost of living. It is calculated each year and is announced by the Living Wage Foundation as part of Living Wage Week. It is currently £9.90 in the UK, with a higher rate of £11.05 for London, reflecting the higher costs of living in the capital. Over 9,000 organisations, including BSA Group, voluntarily choose to pay the real Living Wage.

Robin Fletcher, CEO, BSA and BSA Group, said: “We’re delighted that the Group is being recognised as an accredited Living Wage Employer. In the current economic climate, where costs are rising and people are facing lots of difficult financial choices every day, it’s absolutely right that all team members are fairly remunerated for their work, and this is particularly important in the case of all our third party contracted staff.

“Becoming a Living Wage Employer demonstrates our commitment to all our employees, whether they are directly employed or contractors. It shows our customers and partners that we care passionately about every single member of our team and that BSA Group is an organisation they can be proud to work with.”
