Two players from Gresham’s First XV Rugby Team played in Leicester Tigers Academy’s winning
side against Worcester Warriors Academy last weekend.
Both Callum and George started in the game which turned out to be a thriller. George scored a try
in what was a very tight match. Leicester held on until the end of the game with determined
defence, despite Worcester trying everything to force a draw. Leicester left Sixways, the home of
Worcester Warriors, victorious. The final score was Worcester Warriors 28, Leicester Tigers 35.
Gresham’s maintain close links with Leicester Tigers and are proud to see both players regularly
included in the starting line up for their academy squad. At school, the players benefit from the
experience of Gresham’s Director of Rugby, Ben Pienaar. Ben has a wealth of experience both in
playing and coaching the game. He attended Gresham’s alongside the Youngs brothers and
represented Leicester Tigers and London Welsh during his playing career.
