Members in England will have received an email from the DfE yesterday (June 30) afternoon which indicates that study for less than six months at an independent school will no longer be possible through a visitor visa, instead a Child Student Visa being required from October 2021.
While this communication was sent to English schools this will affect all UK sponsors if correct.
Please note this email only applies to sponsors and for those who are not sponsors, the rules remain the same.
BSA sought immediate clarification from the Home Office and DfE regarding this email. Both departments are looking into this matter. As soon as we have clarification we will communicate this with members.
