  • Platform: Zoom (online)

This three-hour interactive workshop which will explore the potential of applying the Coaching Mindset and coaching skills in conversation with young people about sensitive topics, many of which are related to EDI.

The session will begin by first exploring what coaching is and is not by identifying the many forms of help and ways to conduct a conversation. Then we will layer our understanding with skills you can immediately use with your young people.

You will walk away having learned foundational coaching skills and activities including The Forms of Help Spectrum, the Coaching Mindset, Effective Questions, Three Ms of Listening and more.

This workshop will also highlight the value of applying Graydin’s coaching model, Start With Heart, within a conversation. The model puts the young person at the centre of the conversation by emphasising the importance of understanding values and motivations in order to navigate challenging conversations with greater ease.

This workshop is for those who are new to coaching and not for those who are already advanced coaches.

EDI is personal. Whether you’re having a one-to-one conversation with a young person about their protected characteristics or helping a year group learn from a challenging situation, your role is to create psychological safety and encourage young people to speak their voice, understand the viewpoints of others and promote EDI. This workshop will provide skills and tools that can be used to support young people in any setting.

During this 3-hr long workshop, you’ll learn coaching skills and tools specifically designed to help young people:

  • voice what is really going on for them
  • articulate the help and support they need
  • raise awareness, shift perspective and take action
  • find their own solutions and ways forward
