Course outline
This training package comprises of 12 webinars on a variety of medical topics, the purpose of which is to provide updates on medical conditions and refresh skills. The aim is to support school nurses with their training and development needs; help them to raise the standards of care provided in schools, this could count as CPD as part of their revalidation. However, in the wider context this box set is suitable for all organisations who wish to further their knowledge with a view to supporting their employees within the work environment. Webinars will be recorded so that if you can not attend the day they can be available for you to view when convenient.
This set will be £500 for a member series place.
Obesity and over-weight is a growing problem amongst all ages in the UK now and early intervention is critical. Dr Fallows will explain the latest science on how to understand obesity and address the root causes which include stress, poor sleep, inactivity and the quality of what we eat. The latest research on the gut microbiome and ultra-processed foods will be covered. You can learn about simple steps to support particularly fussy eaters and encourage a more holistic view within your teams on how to support children to live healthy lives which will improve all areas of their health including mental health.

Dr Ellen Fallows, Vice-President, The British Society of Lifestyle Medicine
Dr Fallows is a GP with experience in treatment and reversal of long-term conditions through supported lifestyle change. She has a post-graduate diploma in obesity and weight management, SCOPE obesity trained, is board certified in Lifestyle Medicine and has a certificate in human nutrition from NNedPro. She works with the Type-2 Diabetes Remission Programme (NHS LCD Pilot) in Birmingham and Solihull and has set-up group clinics to support patients with lifestyle changes.
As vice-president of The British Society of Lifestyle Medicine she previously set-up their Learning Academy.
Championing healthcare policy that supports people to live healthy lives, she has worked with NHS England, the RCGP and Department of Health and Social Care on issues around person-centred care and weight management. She teaches lifestyle medicine at Oxford University and lectures at several medical schools, GP training and trainer events whilst editing a textbook for Cambridge University Press on Lifestyle Medicine with the team at Imperial College London.
