You’ll learn the theory and importance of belonging, as well as practical strategies to foster a true sense of community identity for both students and staff – going beyond diversity to embed belonging deeply in your school’s ethos.

Tammy Winsley, Director of Inclusion at Blundell’s School
Tammy is Director of Inclusion at Blundell’s School, a co-educational boarding and day school in Devon, where she has worked since 2010. She is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and she leads the school’s whole-school strategy for inclusion and belonging. That work covers SEND, EDI, pupil voice, transition and the integration of international pupils.
In her role, Tammy turned a loosely defined portfolio into a strategic priority. That work led to Blundell’s receiving BRIDGE Accreditation through the BSA’s Inclusion and Equity Leadership Association and this year, the school was also a finalist in the Diversity, Equality, Inclusion and Justice category of the Independent Schools of the Year Awards.
A drama teacher and former Head of Drama, Tammy is also Acting Housemistress of a girls’ boarding house. She believes belonging is not an add-on but the foundation that allows every pupil to thrive.
