Founded in 1862, Haileybury is an independent co-educational boarding and day school which offers a fully-rounded education for boys and girls aged 11 to 18. The historic campus is set amidst 500 acres of beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, just 20 miles north of London. With stunning architecture and homely boarding houses Haileybury offers a stimulating environment for boys and girls to challenge themselves, blossom academically and develop into confident, adaptable and generous adults.
We offer a dedicated Lower School for Years 7 and 8, a wide range of GCSE and IGCSEs, and the choice of the International Baccalaureate Diploma or A Levels in Sixth Form. Our innovative curriculum features subjects such as Positive Psychology for Year 7 pupils. Haileybury is a top IB school (rated at number 12 in The Times’ 2015 IB League Table) and 72nd in the Daily Telegraph’s 2015 Independent School A Level results table. Our aim is to get every pupil into their first-choice university. Ten pupils went to Oxbridge in 2015.
Central to our philosophy is empowerment for each child to follow their passion and build their self-confidence. So we provide an extensive range of co-curricular opportunities enabling pupils to indulge their passions or take up something new; learning to be part of a team and reflecting on their personal strengths. From dance classes to Mandarin lessons, and Model United Nations to trips to Everest Base Camp, pupils can try activities outside their comfort zone and develop pride in mastering a new skill.
A happy child will open their heart and mind to learning, so we focus on creating a warm, nurturing environment based around our Boarding Houses. This enables us to fulfil our primary role of preparing hearts and minds for a lifetime of change.
