Royal Russell School is an independent co-educational school with 860 pupils in the Senior School and Sixth Form. 190 of our students are full time boarders in four brand new boarding houses, where each student enjoys dedicated space for study and leisure. Dating back to 1853, Royal Russell School has a proud history and heritage and enjoys the Patronage of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Location

The School is set in 110 acres of outstanding natural beauty, just 30 minutes from London and all its facilities, meaning our boarders can enjoy regular trips to top attractions. The School is only an hour from Heathrow and Gatwick international airports.

Facilities

The School is a blend of majestic older buildings and ultra-modern facilities including our brand new boarding houses and spacious classrooms. Pupils benefit from multi-million pound sports facilities including a full-size floodlit Astroturf pitch, three all-weather training pitches, a swimming complex as well as floodlit netball and tennis courts and natural turf pitches for football, cricket, rounders and athletics.

For those interested in the Arts, the Performing Arts Centre houses outstanding facilities for Music and Drama including a 200 seat auditorium which is used for both Drama and Music perforamces and mixed-media events.

Curriculum

The School offers a full range of GCSE, IGCSE and A level courses in preparation for university entrance. Extra English tuition is included at no additional charge, if required.

Pastoral care

The School has developed a reputation for the care of the individual which is achieved through our strong House system where boarders and day pupils study and socialise together. Each House has a bespoke building with common room, study and games areas. Our highly dedicated staff care for both our boarders and day pupils – a carefully balanced mix which includes girls and boys of all ages up to university entrance. We aim to produce happy, polite and academically successful young people.

Co-curricular activities

We offer a full range of exciting activities for pupils after school. Royal Russell has an international reputation for music, drama and sport as well as the Combined Cadet Force and Model United Nations Programme.

Destination of leavers

There are 180 students in the Sixth Form and last year all of these gained places on the university courses of their choice.
