An exciting opportunity to lead one of the South West’s leading independent schools.

The Governors of Shebbear College and the Trustees of the Methodist Independent Schools Trust (MIST) are seeking to appoint an inspirational leader who will build on the successful Headship of Mrs Caroline Kirby.

Founded in 1841, Shebbear College is located on an 85 acre rural campus in Devon. The school blends traditional values with a modern outlook and proudly provides an excellent all-round education. Part of the well-established Methodist Independent Schools Trust (MIST), Shebbear College is a highly regarded independent day and boarding school for girls and boys; a small school benefitting from its association with a larger national group of schools.

The position offers the opportunity for a strong, positive and energetic leader to make a real impact in the exciting development of a clear and ambitious vision for the School, through inspirational and positive leadership of the highest quality.

The post is for September 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter, and commands a competitive salary reflective of the importance of the post. Benefits include a Head’s house on the edge of the College campus.

The Board of Governors are looking to appoint a Head who:

  • has hunger, vision and energy to provide strong school leadership and sustain its Christian/Methodist ethos;
  • has personal integrity, and the ability to guide, inspire and encourage a close knit community of staff, pupils and the whole Shebbear community;
  • is able to secure the full engagement of staff, pupils and parents in the clear delivery of the School’s strategic aims and direction;
  • is able to make the most of the MIST network for the benefit of Shebbear College.
