Job Purpose
The Catering team as a whole is responsible for maintaining high standards throughout the Estate.
The role of the Chef is to provide a quality catering service to pupils, staff and visitors, to include provision of an innovative and impressive catering service for internal and external events held outside of the school day.
This job description is written at a specific time and is subject to change as the demands of the Estate and the role develops. The role requires flexibility and adaptability and the employees of the Estate need to be aware that they may be asked to perform tasks and be given responsibilities not detailed in this job description.
Duties and Responsibilities
- To be involved in the day-to-day smooth running of the kitchen including the preparation, cooking and presentation of fresh food on a daily basis
- To be involved in the planning of menus for the school and outside school events
- Ensure all relevant kitchen documentation is completed when required
- Be actively involved in the stock take process and ensure adequate stock control and rotation is maintained at all times
- Take an active role in the running of the cookery clubs
- Plan menus for and run events such as Black-Tie Dinners, Open Days, etc.
- In the absence of the stores person ensure all deliveries are checked off against the delivery notes and any discrepancies brought to the attention of the Head Chef or Catering Manager
- Take the initiative on new menu ideas and produce innovative new menus with flair and imagination for the school and external events
- Attend all training when requested
- Comply with all Health and Safety, Food Safety and COSHH requirements
- Liaise with pupils and staff regarding special dietary requirements
- Carry out any other duties required by the Head Chef or Catering Manager
