Course outline:

As the new term begins and international students enrol, it’s essential to ensure your sponsor licence duties are fully met so students can begin their studies without issue. Are you confident in checking your students’ right to study in the UK? Do you know which documents to review, what information to verify, and what records must be retained?

Conducting accurate right to study checks is a fundamental requirement for sponsors and plays a vital role in upholding immigration compliance. Whether you’re part of the pastoral team welcoming international students or one of the sponsor licence Key Personnel, now is the time to ensure all necessary checks are completed and your compliance responsibilities are in order.

Training topics will include:

  • The current UK immigration landscape for student sponsors
  • Sponsor duties at the point of enrolment
  • Key documents: what to request, verify, and record
  • Best practices in record-keeping and documentation
  • Common compliance pitfalls and how to reduce risk

Learning outcomes:

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the current immigration requirements relevant to student sponsorship
  • Confidently conduct right to study checks in line with Home Office guidance
