Employment Term: Part Time

St George’s Ascot announced in January 2026 that it will join the St Albans Education Group (STAEG) during the summer term.

In April 2026, we announced our future partnership with St George’s School Windsor Castle and our plan to create a new co-educational through school. The new through school, which is anticipated to be fully operational by September 2028, will offer a seamless educational journey from ages 3 to 18 with access to excellent facilities across the two existing sites. St George’s Ascot, as a step towards the co-educational future, will welcome boys, together with girls, into Years 7 and 9 from September 2027.

We are looking to recruit a well organised, flexible and adaptable, self-employed Tutor of Violin for the new academic year in September 2026.

The Music Department at St George’s provides a valued showcase for the School in the community at large and contributes to its reputation far and wide. The Director of Music oversees a full-time Teacher of Music and ten visiting instrumental and singing teachers. The academic staff teach Music in the curriculum from Year 7 through to A Level and coach instrumental and vocal ensembles. They also teach Grade 5 theory, aural and musicianship as required. The visiting teachers have  a wealth of experience and often lead and contribute to school ensembles and events and many have busy freelance careers.

The successful candidate for this role must be a passionate, motivated individual with the ability to teach at all levels and in a variety of styles. There may be the opportunity to lead an ensemble for the right candidate.

Sessions are normally 30 minutes long and usually on a one-to-one basis and the hours worked will depend on the number of pupils that require tutoring each term. The successful candidate will be responsible for obtaining the details of parents and invoicing them directly.

Staff benefits include:

  • Use of state-of-the-art gym with Technogym equipment at allocated times
  • Staff swimming sessions and family swimming sessions in the recently built 25m, 6-lane indoor pool
  • Supportive Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme
  • Ample free onsite parking
  • Freshly prepared, nutritious lunches in the Dining Room during term time. Meals and refreshments are free of charge.
  • The post holder’s children may, upon passing the entrance assessments, be eligible at the discretion of the Governors for a reduction on the basic tuition fees.
