Course outline:
This course will help schools better understand the boarding market and support strategic planning. Delegates will look at boarding in the UK and globally drawing on long-term data and other information from a wide range of different sources to build a 3-D picture of the sector, schools, customers, pupils and trends.
Training topics will include:
- UK boarding market today – covering number, type and distribution of UK schools
- Changes over the past 30 years – number of pupils, type of pupils, distribution, sectoral changes relative to wider changes in the UK
- Trends and challenges – key things happening in the market today affecting school performance
- Building for the future – a systematic approach to helping schools shape their boarding development plan.

Robin Fletcher is CEO of BSA Group, comprising BAISIS (British Association of Independent Schools with International Students), BSA (Boarding Schools’ Association), BSA Legal, HIEDA (Health in Education Association) SACPA (Safeguarding and Child Protection Association) and TIOB (The Institute of Boarding). A former journalist, editor and communications director, Robin is a non-executive director of the manufacturers’ trade body Make UK, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and an Honorary Fellow of Cardiff Metropolitan University.
