Course outline:
Nurses should be approachable and knowledgeable. Their support is often sought when a child or staff member is unwell. Creating a medical team that works well together will lead to a happier, more approachable Health Centre that is an advocate for the wider school community.
This 1/2 day seminar will consolidate and develop leadership skills in Nurses who oversee a small or large team working within a school environment. The day will present skills that could improve the cohesion and working styles of the medical team, and between the medical team and the wider school community. Delegates will be encouraged to share their ideas and experiences to improve performance and job satisfaction.

Louise Howel, Senior Nurse Advisor
Louise is a paediatric nurse and worked as a Health Visitor for 10 years before moving to independent school nursing, working in boarding and day schools for 10 years. She has six years’ experience as Health Centre Manager most recently at Wycliffe College.
Louise has been working as a Nurse advisor for HIEDA since September 2023 involving giving advice, training and consultancy support. Alongside this, Louise is also a lecturer in Health and Social care within further education.
Louise supports HIEDA members as a Senior Nurse Advisor.
