Trainer: Satveer Nijjar
Over the last 8 years she has successfully set-up ‘Attention Seekers Training’, in 2019 alone Satveer delivered to almost 15,000 people. Through the business she delivers her own CPD Accredited Self-harm Awareness course nationally alongside PSHE/PDC student sessions, parent awareness sessions, conference talks and workshops. Though the majority of her deliveries are for education-based staff and students, she also delivers to housing staff, doctors, nurses, social workers among others. Some of the media work Satveer has been involved in includes having a video featured on Head Talks, written for the Boarding Schools Association Magazine and featured Natasha Devon’s best-selling book ‘A Beginner’s Guide to Being Mental’ and Jonny Benjamins ‘The Book of Hope’.
In 2018 Satveer was the recipient of ‘Most Inspirational Person of the Year’ at the Midland’s Business Community and Charity Awards. This was a great honour, especially as the winner was decided through a public vote. Satveer was nominated for the work that she does in reducing stigma of self-harm and mental illness nationwide.
The key for Satveer is combining lived experience and academics to provide robust sessions that remove the taboo of self-harm and suicide to not only increase the confidence of professionals in providing support but also for those who self-harm to feel empowered to seek support.
All her sessions are consistently met with excellent feedback with specific comments referring to the delivery style, relevance and enjoyability of the course.
