Employment Term: Full TimeTemporary

Full-Time – Fixed Term Contract – 5 January to end of 2026/27 academic year

Opportunity for inspirational Classics specialist teaching Latin and/or Classical Civilisation, ideally at all levels from KS3 to A-Level, with additional pastoral and co-curricular responsibilities coming with the role in this busy boarding and day school.

The role is offered on a Fixed Term Contract from January 2027 until the end of the academic year, based at Prior Park College, overlooking beautiful Bath.

Experience in teaching English or other long-form subjects is advantageous, but not essential.

Currently most students in Lower 3 (Year 7) study Latin. From Form 3 (Year 8) onwards, Latin becomes an optional subject, and from Form 4 (Year 9) Classical Civilisation is also offered as an optional subject. Students may choose to study one or both at GCSE level, following the OCR Classical Civilisation and Eduqas Latin specifications.

In the Sixth Form, both Latin and Classical Civilisation are offered, following the OCR A Level specifications. Additionally, Classical Greek is available as a co-curricular option for those keen to explore another ancient language.

We enrich our Classics programme with regular educational trips, including visits to London for our GCSE and A Level students, and major trips to Italy and Greece offered biennially.

Greek is taught, at present beyond the curriculum, to a small number of able students.

The Classics Department is currently made up of two full-time members of staff, both of whom teach both Latin and Classical Civilisation across a range of year groups. It is a collaborative and welcoming department, staffed by dedicated and experienced teachers. The department is based in two dedicated teaching rooms located in the Mansion with good facilities.

We offer excellent and supportive working conditions with an attractive rewards package to include free lunch and free onsite parking plus use of onsite gym and pool.
