Job Overview
Set within 260 acres of stunning parkland at Gatton Park, The Royal Alexandra and Albert School is a unique, coeducational state boarding school for children aged 7 to 18 years with a rich history and an ambitious future. We are proud to be an All-Steinway School, providing our students and staff with access to world-class instruments that represent the gold standard in musical excellence.
As our Performing Arts department continues to flourish, we are seeking exceptional musicians to join our team of Visiting Music Teachers. While we have a current priority for Voice and Piano, we are always looking to connect with talented instrumentalists who want to contribute to our prestigious musical legacy and inspire the next generation of performers.
Who You Are
We are seeking distinguished practitioners who view music not just as a subject, but as a life-changing pursuit. We want to find artist-mentors who can seamlessly bridge the gap between professional-level performance and nurturing education. You will understand that teaching at an All-Steinway School requires a commitment to excellence, yet you will possess the warmth and patience to guide a nervous beginner through their first notes.
We are particularly interested in candidates who specialise in voice or piano, however, welcome applications for versatile practitioners in other instrumental specialisms. We are seeking individuals who will serve as professional role models for our students. Whether you are a career educator or a touring professional looking to share your craft, you should be proactive, highly organised, and possess the spark necessary to inspire students within a busy, high-energy boarding environment.
Essential Criteria:
- A degree or diploma from a recognised music college or university.
- Experience successfully preparing students for the rigors of graded music examinations (ABRSM, Trinity, RockSchool, etc.), national competitions and festivals.
- Exceptional proficiency in your primary instrument or voice.
- A track record of inspiring progress in young musicians, from beginners to advanced performers.
- A proactive, organised approach to scheduling and administration.
- An unwavering commitment to the safety, wellbeing and welfare of our students.
