IT Infrastructure & Security Engineer

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our IT Department as an Infrastructure & Security Engineer, responsible for maintaining, developing and securing the School’s IT systems across the Shrewsbury family of schools.
This is a hands-on and varied technical role, ensuring the reliability, scalability and safeguarding of our network, cloud, identity, and classroom technologies. The successful candidate will be an experienced IT professional who is proactive, detail-oriented and able to manage a broad technical workload with a focus on service quality and cyber security.
Essentially you must have:
- Proven experience managing Microsoft 365/Entra ID, Windows Server and enterprise networks.
- Strong technical understanding of networking, endpoint management (Intune/MDM), and backup/disaster recovery.
- Experience implementing cyber security controls and responding to incidents.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills.
- A relevant IT qualification or certification (e.g. Microsoft, CompTIA, or equivalent).
Experience in education, PowerShell scripting or advanced monitoring (SIEM) would be an advantage.
This is a full-time, permanent position with flexibility required for occasional on-call or weekend work (time off in lieu provided).
