Westbourne House lies just east of Chichester in 100 acres of beautiful parkland. The school has excellent facilities, which provide a wealth of opportunities in academics, sports, musical and creative spheres. Westbourne House strives to create a positive and happy atmosphere in which children are encouraged to aim for excellence in work and play, to live together as members of a community and to use their free time sensibly. The School provides a disciplined, yet happy environment where children know what is expected of them, both in the standard of their work and in their behavior. The emphasis of the school is on catering for the needs of the individual. Classes are small and both the Headmaster and the child’s Form Teacher/Tutor carefully monitor each child’s progress. There are many opportunities for parents to meet staff, formally at Parents’ Evenings and informally when the need arises. The Head’s door is always open. Effort grades are sent home regularly, as well as informative end of term reports. In 2019, Westbourne House pupils achieved an impressive 36 scholarships to some of the country’s best known senior schools, including Brighton, Canford, Cranleigh, Harrow, Hurstpierpoint, Lancing, Marlborough, Millfield, Portsmouth Grammar School, Portsmouth High School and Seaford. Pupils leaving in 2019 also secured places at Bede’s, Bradfield, Bryanston, Charterhouse and Wellington.
