The Duke of York’s Royal Military School is co-educational boarding school offering full, weekly and flexi boarding for students aged 11 – 18. With exceptional education and outstanding opportunities, students embark on a journey of growth and remain Dukies for life.
Set within 150 acres of Kentish countryside near Dover, the school enjoys academic success way above the national average with well over half of all of grades being A* – B, BTEC with an average of Distinction*, and 85% achieving A* – C grades. 95% of students move on to university, with 73% achieving their aspirational first choice and 40% moving to Oxbridge and Russell group universities. Ranked in the top 5% of schools nationally, students make outstanding progress at GCSE, achieving over two-thirds of a grade higher than the national average.
As well as academic achievements, students enjoy an active lifestyle with sport, music, drama, and access to more than 60 clubs and societies per week, all included within the boarding fees. The school has one of the largest Combined Cadet Forces and is a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award centre.
Facilities are outstanding with modern teaching blocks, performance arts centre, sports hall, gym, indoor heated swimming pool, Olympic-standard athletics track, AstroTurf hockey pitches, rugby and cricket pitches, lawn and hard tennis courts, and squash courts.
The current boarding fees for the 2024-2025 academic year are:
- Full & Weekly Boarding: £7,110 per term
- Flexi Boarding: £4,073 per term (available from September 2025)
Open Days
Open Mornings are held on most Saturdays during term time. Registration to attend is required via www.doyrms.com – the event starts at 9:45 am with private tours hosted by students. During the morning you will have the opportunity to explore our facilities, interact with key members of staff and speak with our Admissions team and Registrar regarding the application process. Bursaries
We offer Academic Scholarships to students who achieve exceptional GCSE results, including at least three grade 8s and three grade 7s. These scholarships are means-tested and awarded automatically upon receipt of GCSE results, with no application required. Additionally, we provide Rugby and Sports Scholarships for students who demonstrate outstanding ability and commitment in their respective sports. These scholarships, assessed on both current performance and future potential, may offer a reduction in fees or assistance with the cost of sports kit, equipment, or travel. The level of support is determined by the Director of Sport.
