Founded in 1495, Loughborough Grammar School is one of the UK’s oldest independent boys’ schools. A day school with boarding, Loughborough Grammar School is the perfect environment to embrace the British culture, while receiving exceptional education. The Grammar School educates c.800 boys, aged 10 to 18, and prides itself on providing a stimulating environment, a wide range of activities and a family atmosphere.
Our boys benefit from the best of both worlds. They receive an education centred around the learning needs and preferences of boys, but with multiple opportunities to mix, engage and work together with the girls at our neighbouring all-girls school, Loughborough High School, which shares the same campus.
Loughborough Grammar School takes pride not only in developing the knowledge of our students, but also in sparking their curiosity so that they enjoy learning and work hard to achieve academic success. Our curriculum develops independence, responsibility, problem-solving skills and metacognition to equip our boys with the tools and attributes to aim high in life and realise their potential.
The town of Loughborough is synonymous with sporting success – home to the world’s leading university for sport and a multitude of Olympic and Paralympic medals. It is therefore no surprise that sport is central to life at the Grammar School, with excellent facilities, specialist coaches and links to Loughborough University, providing the perfect base to nurture talent and achieve success in any one of over 16 sports we offer
Loughborough Grammar School offers a smaller, welcoming boarding environment and a family-orientated boarding experience in which our boarders quickly feel at home and can grow and thrive. As we offer a more close-knit boarding community, students are not lost in the crowd, and we can ensure excellent continuity of care and individual, bespoke attention – in terms of English Language development, academic progression or supporting sporting commitments. For boarding, there are 73 beds shared between the two boarding houses on campus.
