King Henry VIII College Malaysia is a growing school, and one with a history that stretches back nearly 500 years. Our sister school in the UK, Christ College, Brecon was founded by Royal Charter in 1541 by King Henry VIII, whose name is given to our school in South East Asia. The school takes children from 3 years of age and pursues a UK National Curriculum, culminating in IGCSE’s and AS/A levels.
Our UK sister school is a small co-educational independent day and boarding school set in the Brecon Beacons National Park in the heart of rural mid-Wales. King Henry VIII College has a rather more modern, urban setting in the global tech hub that is Cyberjaya – a rapidly-developing planned township, mid-way between Kuala Lumpur City Centre and KL International Airport.
KH8 has approximately 600 students on the school roll, and in the Senior School 30% of children are boarding. The boarders are housed in two purpose-built blocks, with accommodation for up to 500 students, in Houses of 50, each with Houseparents and resident staff, as well Graduate and Gap Assistants. Teachers – predominantly from the UK – are also assigned to Houses as non-resident assistants.
